German chancellor Angela Merkel is not endorsing an expansion of gay rights, even though members of her Christian Democratic party are.

Lady Gaga, Michele Bachmann, and Sarah Palin scored places on Forbes’ list of the world’s 100 most powerful women, behind German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who took the top two spots.

Forbes has published their annual The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women, a list of women, “from CEOs and heads of state to early adopter entrepreneurs, celebrity role models, billionaire activists and philanthropists who are healing the world.” Women in the “Politics” category dominate the top spots: German Chancellor Angela Merkel in first, with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in second, and President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff in third, the same as in 2011.
