Germany's gay penguins are proud papas after taking in a chick abandoned by a negligent straight couple of penguins at the Bremerhaven Zoo. The gay penguins, Z and Vielpunkt, adopted a baby chick whose egg they cared for before it hatched.

Zookeepers at the Toronto Zoo have noticed that two African penguins, Buddy and Pedro, are not just inseparable, but also show signs of mating behaviors. These two penguins apparently have very good genes, and the zoo plans to separate them and pair them with female penguins for breeding. African penguins are endangered, so the plan to separate the duo for breeding is part of a plan among zoos to help species survive.
