ELLE honors women in the music industry - from the newly minted bad girl of pop to the reigning R&B queen of soul - who are not afraid to make some noise along with their top-selling records. The Rock of Angeles: Women in Music 2010 includes Christina Aguilera, Ke$ha, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Elly Jackson of La Roux, VV Brown, Kelis, The Like, Alicia Keys and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Residents of Latta, S.C., say Crystal Moore was an exemplary officer and chief, but Mayor Earl Bullard wanted to get rid of her because she's a lesbian.

I caught up with Indie artist Jeryl Orsino by coincidence when her friend, concert pianist, Joyce Anderson, asked if I would play Jeryl's music on my radio show -- on Durham Dales Radio. I'm so pleased Joyce asked because I had terrific feedback from my listeners and, personally, I fell in love with Jeryl's music. Jeryl, an out lesbian, has had her music featured in Crystal Chappell's Web series Venice and in Anyone But Me, which stars Nicole Pacent and Rachael Hip-Flores.

It was a great night to be tangled up in indigo. With a rocking, nearly two-hour set that mixed familiar hits with new songs and closed with a rousing rendition of the Bob Dylan classic “Tangled Up in Blue,” the Indigo Girls — Amy Ray and Emily Saliers — turned in an electrifying performance Saturday night at Los Angeles’s Wiltern Theatre in a stop on their first electric tour. Ably supported by Southern quintet the Shadowboxers as both opening act and backing band, Ray and Saliers put on a thoroughly entertaining, joy-filled show.

This week Lifetime’s Project Runway will return to the little screen, and if the previous nine seasons are any indication, it will be choc-a-block with queer contestants, including Gunnar Deatherage, who was eliminated in the first episode last season and is (surprise!) back again. In fact, more and more reality shows are featuring LGBT contestants or cast mates including Jake Nodar, the gay horse trainer on Full Metal Jousting; Robear Chinosi the gay tattoo artist on NY Ink; and Dani Shay and Tyler Ford, the lesbian and transgender (respectively) musicians on The Glee Project.
