Police in Lincoln, Neb., are investigating a woman’s account of a horrific attack early Sunday morning that left her naked and bleeding with antigay slurs including the word “dyke” scrawled into her arms and stomach.
The victim of an alleged hate crime in Lincoln, Neb., Charlie Rogers, an out lesbian, is speaking out for the first time since Sunday’s attack when she says three masked men barged into her home and attacked her, scrawling they word “dyke” into her arms and stomach and set her house on fire.
The Emmy nominations were announced this morning and there is some very stiff competition among the actresses nominated in both drama and comedy categories, but there appears to be one upstart female star of this year’s Emmys and that is Lena Dunham.

If you were up past your bedtime last night aimlessly clicking around on Twitter and Facebook --like I was -- you may have noticed a fairly sudden flood of red equality symbols replacing profile pictures. By morning about 80 percent of my Twitter and Facebook feeds were filled with red profile pics and declarations of support for marriage equality as the Supreme Court was getting underway with today’s Prop 8 hearing and in anticipation of tomorrow’s DOMA hearing.

Sweet, the lesbian travel company, sets sail on the Norwegian Spirit sails from New Orleans on Nov. 8 for a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise. When SheWired spoke with Sweet co-founders Shannon Wentworth and Jen Rainin last year, the cruise was more than a year away. Sweet is still on target to host the largest lesbian cruise ever, with nearly 2,000 women embarking on the ecofriendly, voluntourism vacation, packed with activities and events.
