Russia's LGBT activists get a boost from the Human Rights Campaign.

Newt Gingrich offered more than vocal support to the ultimately successful campaign to oust three of the nine Iowa supreme court justices who unanimously ruled in favor of marriage equality. On Wednesday the Associated Press revealed one of Gingrich's many business enterprises, ReAL Action, had donated $125,000 to AFA Action, and The Des Moines Register reported Thursday the group had donated $25,000 to another antigay group, the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition.

Gay-supportive MSNBC host Keith Olbermann has been suspended from the network indefinitely without pay because he contributed to candidates without obtaining advance approval from his supervisors. Politico reported Friday that Olbermann had donated $2,400 each to the reelection campaigns of two Congress members from Arizona, Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords, and the campaign of Kentucky U.S. Senate hopeful Jack Conway, all Democrats.

Rosie O’Donnell informed her followers on Twitter that she is selling her art on Etsy.com, and plans to match all proceeds to benefit the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation (DTRF).

Target shareholders are demanding that the company reform its donation policies to avoid a repeat of the controversial $150,000 donation it made to MN Forward, which supports antigay gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer. Additionally, the New York State pension fund holds 3.8 million Target shares, and New York comptroller Thomas DiNapoli agrees that the company should have been more careful in considering the political implications of such a donation.

The Matthew Shepard Foundation has declined on Friday the donation that celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, offered to give from the proceeds of the lawsuit he filed against the Black Eyed Peas.

In an effort to teach a 7-year-old boy named Malcolm the importance of improving the world around him, he was given $140 to donate to the charity of his choice. After hearing a story on the radio about the mistreatment of gays and lesbians, he selected two charities — the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. In a letter to the center, Malcolm wrote, “I am sending you this money because I don’t think it’s fair that Gay people are not treated equally.”
