It's officially autumn. Time to get serious about our movies -- if only there were more lesbian characters on tap.

Now is the time for people, and especially women who are not always represented by the dominant gay male media, to strike out in inventive ways to offer LGBT media. Executive Editor Kate West and Editor-in-Chief Sarah Toce – a frequent and favorite contributor to SheWired – have built The Seattle Lesbian for their community, and the lesbians have come in droves to the new site that features local and national news, politics and entertainment.

Lesbian and gay advocate Lady Gaga rode the torrent of popularity she has and enjoyed since the summer of 2008 and dominated MTV's Video Music Awards Sunday night with eight wins, including Video of the Year and Best Collaboration, with Beyoncé, for the epic "Telephone" video. Kanye West introduced a new song, "Runaway," recalling his scandalous appearance at the VMAs last year with Taylor Swift, who sang "Innocence," which also expressed her feelings on the turbulence from last year.

Those wild and wacky real-life lesbians of the Real L Word back beginning July 12, and playing off the whole east coast meets west coast vibe. As someone who moved from Connecticut to LA six years ago I was intrigued to see if it’s a bunch of neurotic lesbian Woody Allen types versus a batch of Hollywood airheads, but from the looks of Showtime’s newly released behind-the-scenes look at season 3 there’s going to be plenty to admire, ship and discuss about the Brooklyn girls meets the LA girls.

Joan Jett told Kristen Stewart to "f*ck" her guitar. Stewart, who plays the lesbian fave Jett, a musician living the gritty rock 'n' roll lifestyle in the upcoming film The Runaways, has revealed Jett's word of wisdom: "Put your pussy to the wood! Fuck your guitar!" The film had its  premiere at the Sundance Film Festival Sunday. Cherie Currie is played by Dakota Fanning.

During my night at MUG SHOT (my favorite LA gay night), a friend pointed out a woman in head-to-toe leather and spiked six-inch heels, but I wasn’t particularly interested until the friend said she was a professional dominatrix. Holy Baby Jesus and All His Archangels, Seraphim, and Jillian Michaels-eque Personal Trainers. This was going to get interesting. Instead of bringing out some girl in a spiked collar or well, I wasn’t actually sure what kind of person she would bring out but let’s just roll with it for a moment, she brought out someone… in a bunny suit. 

Ok. WHAT is going on? I'm in love with this new wave of pop sensations that look like younger versions of the sexiest lesbians I've ever seen. Seriously… If the girls looked like these teens when I was this age, I would have come out much earlier. We all know the ever-popular site Lesbians Who Look Like Justin Bieber, but have we ever noticed that Justin himself is the hottest lesbian in the world? Well, him and all the One Direction boys.

UConn is no stranger to winning.  Since their first national championship in 1995, the Huskies have become a mainstay in the tournament, making 21 total appearances.  They have also notched 3 undefeated seasons, 1995, 2002 and 2009.  They are also responsible for turning out some of the most notable names in the WNBA; Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Svetlana Abrosimova, Nykesha Sales and Rebecca Lobo to name a few.
