Same-sex marriage supporters gathered outside the San Francisco federal courthouse Wednesday as U.S. District Judge Vaughn R. Walker prepared for the Proposition 8 case closing arguments.

Police closed the Jamey Rodemeyer case today without prosecuting any of his bullies, saying they lacked proof he'd been harassed. Rodemeyer killed himselfin September after facing bullying that he "could never escape,” he said in posts on the Internet. But Amherst, N.Y., police chief John Askey said that despite the 14-year-old's complaints online about bullying, there wasn't enough evidence of what happened, and the bullying couldn't be pinned to any single student.

Star of the critically-acclaimed upcoming film based on the life of the cross-dressing butler Albert Nobbs Glenn Close will be honored with the Hollywood Career Achievement Award at the 15th annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Film Awards, presented by Starz on October 24, in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Rachel Maddow discussed the major developments of  "don't ask, don't tell" on her show Thursday. From the arrest of 29-year-old Lt. Dan Choi and others for chaining themselves to the White House fence in protest. The National Equality March in Washington DC brought 200,000 gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight people to the streets to march for full equality in all matters of civil law. The speakers at the rally included Lady GaGa, Cynthia Nixon, Michelle Clunie, Billie Myers, Julian Bond, Dustin Lance Black, Cleve Jones, Judith Light, the Broadway cast of Hair, Stacy-Ann Chin, and other celebrities, politicians and activists alike.

SheWired’s friend Diana Cage chats with iconic lesbian / feminist performance artist Holly Hughes about her views on  same-sex marriage, feminism, her button pushing work including The Well of Horniness and her new show Let Them Eat Cake!  Hughes became part of the national dialogue in the early nineties when she was one of four artists to receive a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts that was later rescinded under fire from the moral majority and ultra-conservatism of the time.

The Egyptian Club, Portland's only lesbian bar, will close its doors for good October 9 due to financial difficulties. Owner Kim Davis expressed her dismay, telling the newspaper Just Out, "I don't want to do this, I really don't. [Running this club is] the biggest thing I've ever done in my life and the coolest."

Connecticut (38-0) is one win away from glory, one win away from solidifying their rightful place in the record books. A NCAA-record 77-game winning streak and the chance to make history as the first women’s team to win back-to-back undefeated national championships are both on the line for Connecticut.

Amazing out actress, comedienne and out lesbian Lily Tomlin will join the third season of Glenn Close's high-stakes, dark lawyer drama Damages. Tomlin will go up against Close (hot!) as the matriarch of a powerful family. Perhaps Tomlin will take Close's current nemesis, Rose Byrne's Ellen, under her wing.

As her showDamages begins its third season, lesbian favorite Glenn Close talks about her best career moves and of course, kissing Judy Davis.  Referring to one of her favorite film roles in the 1995 television biopic Serving in Silence, where she shared a passionate kiss with Davis, saying the smooch "was kind of revelatory for me..."

Employees of the gay newspaper Southern Voice arrived at the publication's office Monday to find the doors locked and a sign posted saying the magazine was no longer in business. Window Media LLC, based in Washington, D.C., is the country's largest gay and lesbian newspaper publisher. The company also owns the Washington Blade, Genre Magazine, South Florida Blade and a handful of other gay publications.

Half naked girls, leather, bondage, flamboyant costumes, good dancing, and bad dancing; it was a night to remember. It had all the makings of a great Pride Event, only it wasn't Pride. I had the honor of attending P!nk'sFunhouse tour as it made its way to good ole' Fairfax, Virginia. My girlfriend and I felt right at home as we made our way to our seats amongst the plethora of gays and lesbians.
