The 5 Boots Every Lesbian Should Have In Their Closet
I’m never one to tell a person what they “should” or “shouldn’t” wear, because I firmly believe a person has the right to (and therefore should) make their own fashion rules to live by, no matter the time of year, color of their skin, or weight of their body. That being said, I do think it’s a bit sacrilegious for lesbians to not own boots. It’s kinda like the unspoken footwear of lesbians (besides sneakers) and although they're not as celebrated as flannels may be, they still are a staple in the closet of EVERY person — especially lesbians.
If you’re in the mood to buy some shoes here are 5 boots every lesbian should have (And even if you’re not in the shopping mood, this list is a good guideline for the boots you should be adding to your closet,if you’re a queer lady):
These are those boots that you’ve seen all hot lesbians rocking and have never known what they are. For a while, I would see them and say to myself, “are those Docs? They look sort of like Chelsea boots, but more like work Chelsea boots. They’re so cute! I love the tabs on both the front and back of the upper…” Well now you know. They’re waterproof (and snowproof if you opt to get the traction soles), so there is really no excuse to not look, even in less than sunny weather.
Whenever I see a man, woman or child in Clarks, I immediately think, "they’re so cool." Since we all know that everyone looks at lesbians as cool people, it’s only natural that this boot has become so popular among them. Even Ellen Degeneres is a fan! You can choose from a variety of colors and finishes to match your every desire.
This boot is slowly regaining popularity in fashion, but is definitely a boot every lesbian (and person, for that matter) should own. They're known for being made of 2 pieces of leather, attaching together with a buckle strap. I’m a big fan of the tan variety, but I’ve been known to fall for a good, black, faux-snakeskin pair as well, which proves they’re an attractive shoe no matter what they’re made of.
Designer Freda Salvador's Jodhpur Boots are out-of-this-world, but they can come at an extremely high price point. Fret not, though! Do a quick Google search and you will be sure to find a pair that suits your taste while simultaneously keeping money in your bank account.
Chelsea boots are classic, and they have (and always will be) the chicest boot. Made famous by The Beatles and joyously welcomed into the fashion world through the ‘70s London music scene, the Chelsea boot is an absolutely staple. They’re comfortable, make every outfit look cool and can be purchased by pretty much any retailer that sells boots. I just recently bought a pair from ASOS, and I love them!
It can be dizzying to think about all the styles lace-up boots can come in (combat style, shearling on the inside, fold over, zip insole, brown, black, plaid, etc.) but if you asked me, I’d say, to just stick with neutral colors like brown or black. When it comes to these bad boys, don’t go for bells or whistles. Instead, buy a pair of lace-up boots that will last you for many, many, many seasons.
