It’s a Republican’s nightmare come true: walking, talking vaginas have invaded the Republican National Convention.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, several activists from the feminist group CODEPINK showed up at the GOP convention in Tampa, Fla. this week bedazzled in pink vagina costumes. Protestors – both women and men – held up signs with slogans like “Read my lips: no war on women,” and “Hands off my vagina.”
A Florida political website called The Shark Tank captured part of the vagina protest on video. According to CODEPINK’s website, the group came to the RNC to demand Republican politicians address women’s issues in a responsible way.
“Our vaginas need to talk, too,” reads CODEPINK’s website. “They need to talk about the way women's rights are threatened worldwide – from anti-choice legislation to inappropriate rape jokes to economic inequality to war and occupation overseas that disproportionately affect women’s lives.”
