Out MSNBC host Rachel Maddow will co-anchor the network’s primetime coverage of the Republican and Democratic national conventions with Chris Matthews.

The duo will host live from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. (EST) from outdoor sets at both conventions, as the Republicans meet in Tampa, Fla., Aug. 27-30 and the Democrats in Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 4-6.

All told, MSNBC will offer 20 hours of coverage each day, starting at 5:30 a.m. with “Way Too Early with Willie Geist” live from both cities.

Meanwhile, Maddow is keeping busy pushing buttons. She recently got into a verbal tussle with Rich Lowry, editor of the conservative newsmagazine National Review, in an appearance on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press.”
