Following news that acclaimed LGBTQ-centric series Sense8 would not be returning for a third season to Netflix, fans have been up in arms. The streaming site's founder, Ted Sarandos, has offered showrunner Lana Wachowski the chance to tie up loose ends with a two-hour finale—though he's not the only person willing to produce more of the show. Porn site xHamster has made an earnest offer to back a third iteration of the series, according to PinkNews.
“We know it’s unconventional, but we want to bring it back—on xHamster," wrote the site's founder, Alex Hawkins. "We’re not talking about a parody, or something less than, but an actual revival of the series. Ever since we read about the cancellation, we’ve been wondering if there was something we could do. While we’re happy that Netflix is picking up the series for a conclusion, before you wrap up the story, we wanted you to consider another option—letting xHamster produce the series.”
xHamster has long been devoted to the LGBTQ community, and previously blocked users in North Carolina from accessing their site after their anti-trans bathroom bill was passed.
“[We] continue to use our audience to speak up against repressive anti-LGBTQ laws in the US and abroad, and for sex ed in public schools, Planned Parenthood and the rights of sex workers," Hawkins continued. "We’d like to set up a meeting to see if there’s some fit for us in the future of Sense8. We know we’re an unlikely home. But five years ago, people laughed at the idea of Netflix producing original series. We think that our time, like yours, has come.”
While Wachowski has yet to comment, it has been reported that she's at work writing the third season, believing that with fan support it will return:
