Been awake at night worrying about your rights being taken away during Donald Trump's presidency? Well, you're not alone.
Speaking out, Drag Race icon RuPaul candidly opened up about his thoughts on the election and what it means for America. He told Vulture, "Last night I woke up at 1:30 in the morning and I remembered what happened and I couldn't get back to sleep."
Ru was with Hillary Clinton during the election, reminding Americans to vote on election day with a short video.
Before November 9, he was very outspoken about his support for the Democratic candidate. In trying to distinguish between the two, he also told Vulture during another interview, "So which of the horrible people do you want? That's more of the question. Do you want a pompous braggart who doesn't know anything about diplomacy? Or do you want a badass bitch who knows how to get shit done? That's really the question."
Since Hillary's loss, Ru hasn't been quoted quite like he was by Vulture. On the red carpet at the Critics' Choice Awards (where he was nominated for Best Reality Host), he said "It's sad. I'm still so heartbroken over it. It feels like the death of America. The America that we have all fought so hard for, the narrative of love and peace and liberty and equality, it feels like it is dead.”
So do we, Mamma Ru. So do we.
