Skittles Launches Gray Pride Packs Featuring Designs by LGBTQ+ Artists

In a June full of rainbows, Skittles is going gray again.

Skittles is sucking all the color out of its chewy candies once again in celebration of Pride month — or, as they put it, “giving up the rainbow to celebrate the one that matters.”

All-gray Skittle packs will be hitting shelves for the third year in a row, but with new, creative packaging designed by LGBTQ artists.

Mia Saine, Chi Nwosu, Kah Yangni, Meg Lee, and the team of Ashley Molesso and Chess Needham designed unique and colorful packaging to contrast the usual gray that signifies Pride for Skittles. Each pack will feature a scannable QR code that takes the purchaser to a website offering up more information on the artists.

And the company isn’t just boosting LGBTQ artists, they’re giving back to the community too — $1 for every Skittles Pride pack purchased will go to GLAAD.

"At Mars we believe that in the world we want tomorrow society is inclusive. The SKITTLES brand, which is a proud part of Mars, is committed to advocating for the LGBTQ+ community both within our own organization and throughout the world," said Justin Hollyn-Taub, Senior Director, Mars Wrigley.

"While Pride Month is a time to reflect, self-educate and celebrate, we know that long-term sustained support and allyship is key in building a more inclusive and diverse society. Mars and SKITTLES are proud to partner with GLAAD for the third year in a row this June, and year-round, as we deepen our commitment to support increased visibility and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community.”

You can snatch up some gray Skittles in stores from now until the end of June, but if you want to taste the rainbow, well, use your imagination.
