TikToker Explains Why We Need Pride In Epic Shutdown of Conservative

"See I was alive in the 80s..."

cornbreadsays

In response to a "gay conservative" claiming he “never understood why Pride Month is a thing”, TikToker @blackfluidpoet has gone viral all over social media for his epic shutdown.

The TikTok shows the conservative's initial statement then cuts to John S. Blake. He lights a cigarette, sighs, shares some LGBTQ+ books everyone should read, then says, “It’s because you don’t know the history or choose to ignore it.”

Blake continues, "See I was alive in the 80s when our government was dragging their asses about AIDS because there weren’t that many gay people to be worried about.

“Many Americans had to come out in order for the country to recognize just how many people in this country were actually queer. They came out and lost their jobs. They came out and lost their families. They came out and lost their homes. You weren’t here for the bashings and the beatings. You wouldn’t even be making a video if it wasn’t for them.”

The video has nearly 84,000 views on TikTok and had even more on Twitter before the tweet that went viral was deleted. Responses to the original tweet are still up, and emphasize Blake's point even more.

"Our elders didn't die for the queer babies of today to become patsies for those that want to kill us," wrote one. "They stand on our shoulders while they tell us that we’re doing it wrong," said another. "You think this isn’t about you, because you feel safe. We’re the only reason you feel safe. we fought for your safety. How dare you."
