Not even Donald Trump's criminal indictments can save the 'Don't Say Gay' candidate.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis thought blatant homophobia and transphobia would take him all the way to the White House, but with his poll number in the toilet that’s looking like a pipe dream.

The presidential hopeful thought he could knock Donald Trump out of the running for Republican nominee by passing racist and anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in his home state—what apparently never occurred to him was that his inhuman personality and near constant blunders would end up shooting him in the foot.

The politician known for passing the hateful Don’t Say Gay bill is crashing hard. Poor guy! His national poll numbers are down a whopping 50%, he’s made one media blunder after another and his presidential bid has been plagued by embarrassing leaks.

Kinda feels like karma!

In a recent Vanity Fair article, journalist Gabriel Sherman spoke to sources who claim that the relationship between DeSantis and his Don’t Back Down super PAC—which is basically running his campaign—is breaking down.

“The mistrust between the DeSantis campaign and its super PAC has reached dysfunctional levels,” Sherman wrote.

The group has had more leaks than a sinking ship. In one of the more embarrassing leaks, Jeff Roe, the chief strategist for the super PAC, can be heard begging donors for $50 million and trashing DeSantis’ opponents in leaked audio obtained by the New York Times earlier this month.

A humiliating campaign memo from Don’t Back Down leaked right before the Republican debate that not only included insults against other candidates, but reminded the robotic DeSantis to “show emotion.”

“DeSantis is a distressed stock,” one GOP operative told Sherman.

The candidate can’t be trusted in public either. He’s been accused of ignoring fellow lawmakers at the airport, eating pudding with his fingers—gross!—and telling a child that their icee was full of sugar while glad-handing in Iowa.

And did you see his performance in the Republican debate? Yikes! When you're down 15% percent in Iowa and running 35 points behind Donald Trump—you know, the former president who is currently facing four criminal indictments—you're really in trouble.

DeSantis’ wife Casey is also wildly anti-LGBTQ+, a fact that it seems like his campaign was hoping would work in their favor, but backfired after she released a homophobic ad for her husband’s campaign and failed to impress when thrown softball questions on Fox News.

The governor bet on homophobia and transphobia being his ticket to the presidency, but it looks like it may be his downfall. After years of nothing but hateful rhetoric and abusive laws we can’t help but relish DeSantis’ much deserved downfall.
