This is so embarrassingly dumb we almost feel bad for her... almost.

Ah, another day, another opportunity for the Republicans in the United States government to make a total embarrassment of us as a country.

People in the good ol’ U.S. of A. celebrated another round of Independence Day on July 4 to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the same day in 1776. People mostly stopped caring about that until Lin-Manuel Miranda gooped us all with Hamilton, but that’s neither here nor there at the moment.

What is here is Marjorie Taylor Greene, a fiercely anti-LGBTQ+ right-wing United States Representative who’s all about Project 2025 and “making America great again” and whatever else the Republicans go on about.

You’d think she, of all people, would know who signed the Declaration of Independence.

You’d think she would know that not all of the Founding Fathers, including George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, and James Madison, were among those signers.

You’d also think she’d maybe find an archive or something of the Declaration of Independence signers before she sent out a tweet to celebrate the “more than a dozen” signers who were “35 or younger,” but you’d be wrong.

In case you need the recap, only two of the eight people she listed, Thomas Jefferson and John Hancock, actually signed the Declaration of Independence. As a side note, the tweet was meant to highlight signers under the age of 35, and two of the people she listed were in their 40s — ages she wrote next to their names. Hancock was also 39, which means that roughly 38% of the people she listed in the tweet wouldn't have even fit her criteria of being "under 35" regardless of whether they signed the Declaration or not, but I digress.

There are a number of baffling reasons this is hilarious, but it's also a bit concerning. The chief concern is where did she get the information that any of them were involved? Isn’t she on the team going on about fake news?

But more than that, there are 56 delegates who signed the Declaration, and there were, in fact, a number of them under 35. Where was her shoutout to former Vice President Elbridge Gerry? Or Arthur Middleton? What about William Hooper or Thomas Heyward Jr.? How about the only actual two under the age of 30, Edward Rutledge or Thomas Lynch Jr.?

No? Just going to continue to spout out actual fake news. Got it.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November, my friends. And not just because V for Vendetta could happen for real (I'm low-key nervous), but because that’s the date of the next election that will literally determine the future of this country. If you have not registered to vote, do so.

In the meantime, give yourself a laugh and keep scrolling to watch other people’s reactions to the Congresswoman’s latest blunder.
