10 Years of Donald Trump Hurling Misogynist Insults at Rosie O'Donnell: A History

Trump disgustingly invoked O'Donnell's name at the GOP debate, refusing to allow the decade-old fight die.

The GOP clown car made some frightening pit stops during their performance last night. One of the worst things to come out of it was Trump reigniting his feud with Rosie O'Donnell. When Megyn Kelly mentioned some of the horrific things Trump has said about women, such as calling them fat pigs or disgusting, and telling a candidate on The Apprentice that it "must be a pretty picture" to see her on her knees, Trump quipped that he's only ever said mean things about Rosie O'Donnell. If any of you were out of the loop on what that was all about, let me bring you up to speed:
Back in 2006, Trump was under fire for calling himself a "moral compass" with regards to how women should behave. He exercised his Trump-given rights in this regard to publicly chastise a crying Miss USA, Tara O'Connor, for underage drinking. Rosie took issue with Trump on The View the next day, saying, “He annoys me on a multitude of levels. He’s the moral authority? Left the first wife, had an affair. Left the second wife, had an affair. Had kids both times, but he’s the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America. Donald sit and spin my friend.”
O’Donnell additionally called him a “snake oil salesman” and then highlighted a few questionable business transactions.
“He inherited a lot of money, wait a minute, and he’s been bankrupt so many times, where he didn’t have to pay, but the people beneath him who he owed money to got shorted out of the money, but he got to again, try again. And you know what saved him a second time? After his father died, with that money, he paid off all his bankruptcy. This is not a self-made man. Here comes a lawsuit, get ready. He’s gonna’ sue me, but he’ll be bankrupt by that time, so I don’t have to worry.”
Where Rosie criticized his behavior and attitude, he decided to level up. Trump threatened to sue Rosie and made ad hominem attacks. “She says things that come to her mouth, she’s not smart, she’s crude, she’s ignorant and to be honest I look forward to suing Rosie,” Trump said on “Access Hollywood.” “I look forward to taking lots of money from my nice fat little Rosie.”
Over the next few days, he continued his barrage against O'Donnell.
“She’s unattractive, both inside and out”
He then brought up Rosie's partner in a not-so-vaguely threatening way, saying, Rosie "ought to be careful because I’ll send one of my friends to pick up her girlfriend [Kelli Carpenter] and I think it would be easy … I mean would you want to wake up next to that? … Would you want to kiss that face?”
And he just kept going...
“Ultimately, Rosie is a loser, and ultimately ['The View'] will fail because of Rosie. ... Barbara [Walters] made a mistake and let me tell you something — Barbara’s a good friend of mine. She cannot stand Rosie O’Donnell … she’s embarrassed by her … and she regrets hiring her.”
And going.
“Look at Rosie’s moral compass. You tell me about a moral compass. You take a look at Rosie’s moral compass. I mean this woman is a disgrace.” (because she's gay, presumably)
And going.
“Take a look at her, she’s a slob. She talks like a truck driver. … Her show failed when it was a talk show, she failed on that. The ratings went very, very low and very bad and she got essentially thrown off television" (this statement, by the way, wasn't true. The ratings for The View went up when Rosie joined).

Feud 2.0 kicked off in 2011 when O’Donnell weighed in – with many other critics—on Trump’s announcement that he would moderate a GOP debate, according to The Huffington Post.

Trump responded to O'Donnell by attacking her and then short-lived talk show calling it a “complete and total disaster.” Trump then Tweeted a video of himself blasting Rosie O’Donnell )and MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell – who has taken Trump to task on his show The Last Word.) The message that accompanied Trump’s video rant read "#trumpvlog Same last name, same bad ratings- @lawrence and @rosie....."

Although O'Donnell did Tweet about Trump's epic combover, Trump couldn't help but to mix it up in the dirt. He attacked O’Donnell’s new engagement to Michelle Rounds in a Tweet that read, “I feel sorry for Rosie’s new partner in love whose parents are devastated at the thought of their daughter being with @Rosie – a true loser.”

Rosie Tweeted back “Wow, u r an ass in every way.”

And that brings us to this disgusting gem from the GOP debate on Thursday.
