Toward the beginning of the circus known as the GOP debate on Thursday, moderator Megyn Kelly asked Donald Trump about his abysmal record on women. “You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, slobs, disgusting animals,” she said. While she tried to bring up the other horrific statements he’s made about and to women, he interrupted her to say, “only Rosie O’Donnell.” Kelly refused to accept his weak quip and pointed out that he had made these comments about numerous women. The crowd, however, cheered wildly at his insult to O'Donnell.

So thanks to Trump, a massive group of strangers laughed and whooped it up at O'Donnell's expense. It feels like a new low for the women of America to have a huge group of strangers outright celebrate when a woman is openly vilified for no reason on a nationally televised political debate of candidates for the highest office. But that's exactly what happened.
Rosie’s reaction on Twitter reminds us all that she is a person.
