From fresh seafood to iconic key lime pie, treat your tastebuds right.
Key West offers the best in culinary variety. Located on the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, the island is a prime destination for fresh fish alongside native favorites like key lime pie and Conch Fritters. Enjoy a countless range of flavors—think Mediterranean, Mexican, grilled American—as you soak in the sun by the beach, pool, or on the lively Duval Street.
1. Casa Marina
Take in a stellar ocean view as you chow down on simple American fare that excels in grilled proteins and roasted vegetables. For a lighter meal, opt for the Mediterranean salad (served with hot grilled naan) alongside one of the best piña coladas (...ever). Whichever dish or drink you choose, don't miss out on the fried conch balls, a local delicacy that's easily shared and dangerously delicious.
2. Azur
Prepare for an innovative, flavorful meal when you sit down at the modern Azur. Start with some apps to share—the walnut filled eggplant and feta stuffed dates are sure crowd pleasers—before moving on to the restaurant's specialty: wild-caught fish and house-made gnocchi. We're fans of the snapper (served in a lemon-caper sauce with buttery potatos and petite shrimp) as well as the toasted gnocci (pine nuts, arugala, truffle, yum).
3. Kermit's Key West Key Lime Shoppe
No trip to Key West is complete without a slice of key lime pie. Kermit's does the zesty dessert justice with just the right amount of key lime flavor and a perfectly sweet graham cracker crust. The shop is even serving up frozen key lime pie popsicles dipped in dark chocolate. Grab one to go and then walk around the promenade just across the street.
4. Latitudes
Hop on a short boat ride to a private island where you can take photos of the waterfront sunset as you enjoy some of the best food in Key West. Latitudes offers an extensive cocktail menu (classic drinks as well ones with fresh, puréed fruit), in addition to exceptional meals like tuna tartar in a citrus dressing or the famed jumbo lump crab cake. Definitely save room for dessert because they're all homemade!
Our two editors ended their trip at Death by Tako, a low-key taqueria joint in the middle of a independently owned sporting goods store. Sip on a Mexican soda alongside fresh, chunky gauc and a signature taco or two. The gulf shrimp with a sweet corn garnish and cilantro chimichurri, as well as the short rib with kimchee and toasted peanuts, are all the rage.
