One Direction Breakup Rumors Are All Over the Internet, and Now We're Officially Sad
Brace yourselves, Directioners. After over five years of being the world's most popular boy band, it looks like Liam, Harry, Niall, and Louis are calling it quits.
According to a report from gossip mag US Weekly, the boys' planned hiatus — which was only suppossed to last a year or two at most — is now being called a "permanent break."
The report states:
Five months after announcing they would begin an extended hiatus in March, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Harry Styles will split, a source close to the British boy band reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.
This comes after Horan, 22, denied rumors of a split in November. “We’re not breaking up,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “We’re literally taking time out to see our friends and see our family and reflect on what we’ve done over the last few years.”
The foursome...decided “not to renew their recording contract” after wrapping their tour in October, says the close source. “The 1D thing just ran its course. They’ll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers.”
SAY IT ISN'T SO!
However, after US ran it's initial story, things on the interwebz started to get a little murky. According to reports by Cosmopolitan, the four boys aren't breaking up at all.
"Nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group," a rep from trusted music publication Billboard told Cosmo "and all will be revealed in due time from the band members' own mouths."
Talk about mixed signals, huh?
We honestly don't know who to believe at this point, so it seems like the only logical thing to do is wait for 1D themselves to release a statement. Until then, we'll just be over here having a full-on fangirl panic attack from all the anxiety.
