Last Thursday's episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey reunited the cast for the usual post-season in studio reunion special a la talk show. Yet what was anticipated to be a full hour of trashing Danielle's controversial past, against all odds, turned into an hour debate over Teresa's husband Joe's alleged homophobia, according to The Advocate.
Danielle Staub, better known as The Real Housewives of New Jersey cougar, took a stance against another cast member's husband for making a gay slur. Not only did the infamous Cougar take an activist approach standing up for the whole LGBT community, but as well single-handedly redeemed herself from her shady scandalous past, demonstrating that one's present, not past, defines who they are.
Teresa's husband Joe decided that he wanted to take a dancing lesson, after getting into Dancing with the Stars. So Teresa organized a night out for everyone. During the evening, Joe made several gay slurs about the dance instructor, and Danielle called him out on it saying, "If you wanna do that thing that Italian guys do out here in Jersey, do it, but I'm taking offense by it."
While the other housewives defended Teresa's husband by accusing Danielle of being too dramatic and going as far as suggesting that everyone in Jersey uses the word "gay" when referencing something dumb, Andy Cohen, the reunion show host, sided with Danielle and told the ladies that being a gay man himself he too found the comment to be offensive.
