It's official! The L Word's Alice Pieszecki -- played for six seasons on the breakout show by Leisha Hailey, lands in the joint in Showtime's spin-off -- Showtime President of Entertainment Bob Greenblatt revealed.
Broadcasting and Cable's Melissa Grego reported that Greenblatt said that Golden Globe nominee and former L Word guest star Melissa Leo - who played Rachel Shelley's Helena's ex-partner - Roseanne's Laurie Metcalfe and X-Men and Nip / Tuck star Famke Janssen all appear in the pilot.
But don't expect the spin-off to be one big soap dropping lesbian fiesta.
Hailey's Alice hits the big house but it won't be like the L Word with a prison setting in place of West Hollywood.
"It's a big group of characters and there's a few lesbians in that group but it isn't the exact makeup of what the L Word was,"" according to Greenblatt
In response to whether or not the spin-off would be like the female version of HBO's down and dirty prison drama Oz, Greenblatt said it's "not a bad description," but it wouldn't be a as dark and gritty as Oz, which boasted plenty of violence, nudity and sex.
Greenblatt, who has not yet seen the final cut, will make a decision about the pilot's future over the next few months, Broadcasting and Cable reported.
