Seventies star Maureen McCormick, who made Marcia Brady a household name, claims that her
Brady Bunch costar Eve Plumb turned down a stint on Oprah over McCormick’s years-old joke that the small-screen sisters had a lesbian affair.
McCormick, who joined
Celebrity Fit Club a few seasons back, blogged on
Fancast.com that Plumb turned down a
Brady Bunch reunion on the
Oprah Winfrey Show because of McCormick’s joke that the television sisters had gone Sapphic with each other back in the day.
"All of us said yes except for one person, Eve Plumb, who used to be my best friend but now apparently wants to distance herself from the show and, most troubling, from me ... I have no idea why, unless she's mad at the joke I made a few years ago that we'd had a lesbian love affair. I made the crack to be funny — and for shock value. I'm sorry if she took offense,” McCormick blogged.
The lesbian rumor began when McCormick, promoting her autobiography,
Here’s the Story, dropped the bombshell a little over a year ago that she had picked Eve’s Plumb when they were costars.
Plumb’s agent Mark Measures denied McCormick’s allegations of a feud between them. "No one from 'Oprah' called. We haven't turned down anything. There is no feud,” according to
Fox News.
