"Pride comes in every color, all year long."
Xbox has got the perfect gift for gamers who want to show off their pride! The Microsoft-owned video game system is giving back to the LGBTQ+ community with their customizable Pride controller.
Found in the Xbox Design Lab, players can now order their own personalized Xbox Wireless Controller, including this year's Xbox Pride Controller.
The gaming system company announced the Pride Controller on June 1st, bringing together "34 community flags in a fine, interwoven manner to celebrate the intersectionality and strength of the many LGBTQIA+ communities." The new controller will be available year-round and starts at $79.99 USD.
Microsoft tells PRIDE that they have donated over $8M to organizations that support LGBTQIA+ communities and earlier this month, they announced an additional $170,000 donation to multiple LGBQTIA+ organizations.
Other Pride-themed inititives include the ability for players to donate MS Rewards points to LGBTQ+ organizations Mermaids, OutRight Action International, and National Center for Transgender Equality. They've also announced that the Dontnod Entertainment game Tell Me Why will be free to download and play for the entire month of June and the studio will be donating to Transgender Law Center and Trans Lifeline. They're also doing live stream takeovers on the Xbox Twitch Channel, featuring LGBQTIA+ streamers like Nikatine, Dragtrashly, Lanieloveee, Itsmeholly, and IamBrandon.
And on June 17, you can also experience Pride in VR with the “Pride has no borders” metaverse event hosted by activists, players and advocates from LGBTQIA+ communities at Microsoft, Team Xbox and organizations like the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA World) and OutRight Action International."
