Politics got fabulous this past weekend at the second annual RuPaul's DragCon in New York City.
Senator Elizabeth Warren, who has long been a prominent ally to the LGBTQ+ community, was the only (and possibly first) presidential hopeful with a booth at the convention of over 50,000 attendees.
Team Warren passed out "LGBTQ+ With Warren" posters, fans, and even boas to anyone who stopped at the booth. Fans could pose for a picture with a cardboard cutout of Warren. Her team also had stations for attendees to register to vote.
Warren also had an official video message play during the convention. According to Yahoo!, RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars winner Trixie Mattel introduced the presidential hopeful on the main stage at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
"Hello DragCon," she began. "I’m in this fight for full LGBTQ+ equality. We’ve got a lot of work to do to make sure everyone is free to be who they are and to love who they love."
She called attention to the "record number of trans Americans [that] were killed last year. Disproportionally trans women of color. We need to call it out and we need to fight back. Everyone should be able to go to school, to work, to get healthcare, or just walk down the street without fear of discrimination or violence. Equal means equal, period, and that’s what I’m fighting for. I’m honored to fight by your side."
Warren was reportedly the only presidential candidate invited to be a part of the convention. Attendees couldn't help but notice the absence of other presidential candidates, including openly gay Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
