New Zealand Airport Celebrates Pride With Rainbow Runway

Why can't all airports have rainbow-colored runways?!

An airport in New Zealand just made one of the most colorful (and gayest) statements ever!

To celebrate March's Wellington Pride Festival, as well as the 2019 International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (ILGA) world conference, the Wellington Airport painted a huge, bright rainbow next to one of its runways, reports New Zealand's Stuff.co.nz

"Last year we painted the rainbow crossing on Dixon St—it's not quite as big—to show how we embrace everyone," said Justin Lester, mayor of Wellington (New Zealand's capital city), in a statement. "The airport rainbow will be the first many ILGA attendees see and I am sure it will make them feel welcome."

"We are looking forward to celebrating the festival with Wellingtonians and visitors alike, as well as the ILGA delegates, and have put together the largest festival to date with over 128 events," Roxy Coevers, a co-chair for Wellington Pride, told Stuff about all the upcoming festivities.
