A new PSA encourage people to stop labeling ambitious girls as 'bossy.'

“Being labeled something matters,” says Jennifer Garner in the new PSA Ban Bossy, to encourage people to stop telling smart, strong girls that they’re “bossy” when they’re really just showing leadership abilities. Jane Lynch, Condoleeza Rice, Diane von Furstenburg, Beyoncé, and others lend their voices to the PSA.

On NPR today they were discussing the “Ban Bossy” PSA, when a well-intentioned gentlemen called in to say that calling girls bossy was okay because Tina Fey named her autobiography Bossy Pants, followed by his calling the campaign “much ado about nothing,” which really just illustrated the need for the campaign.

Anyway, don’t call Beyoncé bossy. She’s “the boss!”
