The President weighs in on the future of LGBT issues.

YouTube star Ingrid Nilsen, who came out online last summer, had the rare opportunity for a 16-minute sit-down interview with President Obama. Ingrid asked the President incredibly thoughtful questions ranging from terrorism to women’s healthcare issues (specifically the tampon tax) to whether or not same-sex marriage rights could be rolled back. Referring to Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore’s attempt earlier this month to halt same-sex marriage in that state, Ingrid asked the President if marriage rights are in danger.

“The Supreme Court has ruled that under the Constitution everybody, in all 50 states, has the right to marry the person they love,” President Obama said. “So that’s now the law of the land.” He went on to say that Moore’s attempts to halt marriage would be rapidly overturned (and, in fact, his attempts were overturned since this interview).

The President speaks thoughtfully about the future of LGBT progress and changing attitudes among young people.
