The singer shares that she feels “overwhelmed”.

There is one more day until Britney Spears makes her debut back into music with Sir Elton John. With expectations and emotions running high, she deleted her Instagram account on Wednesday, just hours after the pop icon posted a sneak peek of the highly anticipated collaboration. Spears later went to Twitter to share her feelings about the song’s release.

“Okie dokie … my first song in 6 years!!!! It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time, Elton John!” she said. “I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me !!! I’m meditating more and learning my space is valuable and precious!!!”

The song’s upcoming release will mark the artist’s return to music after her conservatorship ended in November 2021 as well as her latest track since her 2016 studio album “Glory”. In the deleted post, she shared her love for the song while thanking John.

It remains unclear as to why Spears deleted her account. However, in a later post, she explained that wants to stay out of controversy. “I’m learning every day is a clean slate to try and be a better person and do what makes me happy … yes I choose happiness today,” she shared after deleting her Instagram. “I tell myself every day to let go of the hurt bitterness and try to forgive myself and others to what may have been hurtful.” This thread of posts was the first since the 40-year-old’s two-month break from social media.

Spears has not been the only one teasing the new soon-tosummer hit. This past Tuesday, John shared footage on Instagram of an impromptu performance of the song in France. In the clip, the British musician sang the lyrics of the 1992 classic, “The One” over a dubstep beat, reminiscent of his single with Dua Lipa titled “Cold Heart (Pnau remix).” The song then transitions into the chorus of 1971’s “Tiny Dancer.” Later the 75-year-old singer shared the cover art for the song, showing side-by-side photos of Spears and John as children.

Spears and John’s “Hold Me Closer” collab drops on August 26.
