Summer 2022 only keeps heating up when it comes to hot new music, even as we move past Pride Month having ended over a week ago. From sultry ballads to trendy TikTok dance music to powerful rap songs, queer people are being fed a lot of great music as of late.
Last week, fans got to bop to Cardi B’s “Hot Shit” and Gia Woods’ “Lesbionic”. Meanwhile, they also got the chance to get into all sorts of moods while listening to Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habit” and Tia Kofi’s “Antidote”. There’s no denying that keeping up with all of this new music from LGBTQ+ artists and allies has been an exciting thing to follow. More than ever, queer music is being recognized in major spaces and going mainstream.
In addition, there are also plenty of allies who are embracing queer artists and the LGBTQ+ community in terms of who they collaborate with, which spaces they perform at, and what language they use in new songs. This is a great moment for queer music in culture – and it feels like only the beginning for a lot of up-and-coming musicians.
Scroll through to check out this week’s best new releases in music when it comes to LGBTQ+ artists and allies.
