Being stuck inside didn't stop some of today's biggest queer artists and allies from (virtually) banding together to perform singalong versions of some of the biggest, most classic hits from the Disney vault! In no particular order, here are some of our faves from the night!
The newly-out, bisexual Moana star sang her hit "How Far I'll Go."
The Emmy-winning Glee, American Crime Story, and Hollywood star donned some nail polish and sang a fun AF version of one of the songs from Walt Disney's classic 1967 film The Jungle Book.
Pop's reigning princess showed Disney some love by performing the Hercules track "I Won't Say I'm in Love." And she didn't even need her own background vocalists! She sang all the parts of the Muses herself!
Queen Bey surprised viewers with a brief but soothing performance of Pinocchio's "When You Wish Upon a Star," dedicated to all the healthcare workers who are currently at the front lines of the ongoing global pandemic. When you think of Disney, you immediately think of this song, and when you think of pop excellence, you immediately think of Beyoncé, so it only makes sense that she got to sing the iconic tune for everyone!
XTina showed off her vocal prowess when she sang a stripped-down version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," the Oscar-winning song from 1994's The Lion King that was originally performed by gay music icon Elton John.
The queer Disney Channel alum teamed up with the Canadian crooner to serve us their version of the iconic Cinderella track. During their performance, viewers even submitted some touching thank-you posters!
Out dreamboat Luke Evans virtually reunited with his Beauty and the Beast co-star Josh Gad (who played gay character LeFou) and composer Alan Menken for a brilliant rendition of "Gaston" that felt like we were actually watching the movie all over again!
Although we felt lied to because Zac Efron's involvement with the reunion lasted literally .00002 seconds, director Kenny Ortega was able to reassemble the rest of the original High School Musical cast—Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel—for a lively upbeat finale to the Disney Family Singalong. Our inner mid-2000s fangirl finally felt alive again!
