From Diana Ross to Ariana Grande, David Bowie to Todrick Hall, some iconic artists make up the soundtrack for our favorite time of year: Pride Month. Every year around this time, we at PRIDE feed the children with an excellently curated playlist featuring some iconic coming out classics like Cher and Aretha Franklin as well as new bops by artists like Kehlani and Kim Petras. But this year, to make our playlist extra special, we asked for help from some of our favorite LGBTQ+ artists and allies!
Billie Eilish, Greyson Chance, Bea Miller, Sofi Tukker, Cub Sport, Jesse Saint John and more took the time to cherry-pick just a few songs that make them feel proud af to be who they are. We assembled all of them, as well as our own picks, for the Ultimate Pride Month Playlist!
You're welcome!
Scroll down to see what songs some of your favorite artists picked...
"Hurry" - Teyana Taylor
"I think Teyana Taylor is a perfect representation of someone who is proud to be herself and does exactly what she wants."
"Creation" - Sabrina Claudio
"Creation is the most empowering song about the self-awareness of how fantastic you are."
"you should see me in a crown" - Billie Eilish
"I chose my song for obvious reasons!!"
"Dancing On My Own" - Robyn
"It’s My Life" - No Doubt
"Like a Prayer" - Madonna
"Fuck They" - Sofi Tukker
"Let's Have a Kiki" - Scissor Sisters
"Crush Club" - We Dance
"Queen" - Perfume Genius
"I remember hearing this album when I was seventeen. Not a lot was happening for me at the time musically, and I was spending a lot of time back at home in Oklahoma. I distinctly remember us having a long winter that year. When I would run in the morning, I would listen to this song and feel such a sense of triumph and warmth when the guitars came in after, 'no family’s safe, when I sashay.' At a time when I felt completely invisible and unmotivated, this song gave me strength."
"Yoü & I" - Lady Gaga
"This one is a no-brainer for me. Once this song was released, Yoü & I quickly became one of my favorite Gaga songs. The record gives me a sense of home and reminded me of hot summers when I was a teenager. And of course, because it’s Gaga, it gave me a sense of pride and community."
"Put 'Em Up" - Priory
"What a killer song and one that deserves way more recognition in my opinion. I remember smiling the first time I heard it. Being from where I am, I will always have a fighter streak in me and this song does a fantastic job of representing that."
"Believe" - Cher
"True Colors" - Cyndi Lauper
"Proud" - Heather Small
"This Charming Man" - The Smiths
"This is the song that helped me identify with my queerness in my teenage years."
"Boy Afraid" - Saro
"I wrote this song about not giving into the opinions of others. It's about killing the inner fear and being unapologetically me."
"Creep" - Radiohead
"I'm a creep. I'm a fucking weirdo. What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here. Enough said."
"The new wave of Queer artists make me proud of who I am."
