People Didn't Love Maroon 5's Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance
Next time, more SpongeBob.
So Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Outkast's Big Boi performed the halftime show at this year's annual NFL Super Bowl. We didn't know what to expect, but besides the literally seconds-long clip of cartoon classic SpongeBob SquarePants, many people weren't happy about the performance...at all.
“That was one of the worst halftime shows I’ve ever seen. Uninspired. No energy. Levine was completely off key. Maroon 5 looked like they were having a garage band practice.

Liked The Way You Move & Levine singing.

That’s the biggest show of your career! How does that happen?!?”— Kevin McCarthy (@Kevin McCarthy) 1549243704

Some people pointed out how lame it was to tease fans with a .00002 second snippet of SpongeBob's iconic "Sweet Victory" performance, especially since people were campaigning for the whole thing to be performed as a tribute to SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg, who passed in late November of 2018.
“I think the worst part about the halftime show's little troll moment, is that the reason why THOUSANDS of people wanted this song played was so it could be dedicated to Stephan...

Instead they used this man's death as a way to get us to sit through their lame performances.”— John Guerra (@John Guerra) 1549244195
“#SuperBowl53 ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! NO SWEET VICTORY?! OMG I FEEL SO BETRAYED IN MY LIFE! Worst Halftime Show EVER!”— Briayan the Omnipotent Lord (@Briayan the Omnipotent Lord) 1549243627
