Adam Lambert's Haunting Cover of Cher's 'Believe' Is Finally Here
Merry gay Christmas to us all!
A year after his performance of Cher’s iconic single “Believe” reduced the superstar herself to tears, Adam Lambert has finally released a professionally recorded cover of the song.
Lambert first sang his quietly powerful version of “Believe” at the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors, twenty years after the song first hit the radio. While the original was known for its purposeful use of the autotune effect to create a tune everyone wanted to dance to, Lambert’s version relied on piano and vocals, creating a cover that really honored the lyrics and emotion behind the song.
Though Cher at first appeared stoic during the performance, it doesn’t take long to realize she was just overcome with emotion by Lambert’s tribute, as she wiped away tears and leapt to her feet the second the song ended.
“Tried 2 write Feelings About Adam Lambert Singing Believe In Words, but Cant seem 2,” she later tweeted, in typical Cher-speak. “When Your senses are Overwhelmed All Can you feel with your [heart].”

The studio recorded version of the song stays very close to 2018’s performance, and is a wonderful complement to the original “Believe,” a brilliant meeting of gay icons.
“It’s been a year since I performed this cover live for @cher. A lot of you have mentioned wanting a studio recording- so here’s a little holiday 🎁 from me to you. Thank you for being the most loyal & dedicated fans this queen could ask for!

https://t.co/MxcvxIuBzC”— ADAM LAMBERT (@ADAM LAMBERT) 1575610181
And once you’ve listened to the recording of the song, hop on over to watch, or rewatch, Lambert’s performance at the Kennedy Center Honors. You won’t be disappointed.
