Idina Menzel and Billy Porter Absolutely Sleigh New Christmas Duet
We don't deserve them.
’Tis the season for new Christmas collabs to find their way into the world, and fortunately, it looks like we’re starting off strong.
Absolute powerhouses Idina Menzel and Billy Porter teamed up for their own rendition of Christmas classic, “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm.” And as if the song wasn’t enough, the two also put out a fun and frolicking music video to go along with it.
The vid features each of the Tony winners in their own little winter world — Idina unfreezing dancers in the snowy outdoors, Billy taking center stage inside a jazzy Christmas tree-filled warehouse. Eventually the two come together, weathering the storm and blowing everyone away when their insane vocal talents share the same space.
The recording is part of a full length Christmas album released by Menzel in October. Besides teaming up with Porter for this powerful duet, she also has songs with Ariana Grande, Josh Gad, and Aaron Lohr. The album, called Christmas: A Season of Love, also appropriately features a solo version of Rent staple, “Seasons of Love.”
Both Menzel and Porter were featured in this week’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, where Menzel sang “Sleigh Ride” and Porter performed his song “Love Yourself.” And both were lauded for their bold winter styles, obv.
“I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” may be a one-time Christmas gift from this talented duo to the world, but after this, we certainly wouldn’t mind hearing them join up for more tunes in the future.
