Rita Ora's Controversial Track 'Girls' Now Has a Music Video
So is "Girls" a bop? Or a flop?
Reality TV show host and singer Rita Ora just dropped the video for the controversial track "Girls," an anthem about the vocalist's sexual fluidity featuring the voices of Charli XCX, Bebe Rexha, and Cardi B.
"Girls" has received sizeable critizism from many in the LGBT community, including openly gay singer Haley Kiyoko, who specifically called out at the song's lyrics "red wine, I just wanna kiss girls," which suggests intoxication is the culprit for same-sex love.
"A song like this just fuels the male gaze while marginalising the idea of women loving women," Kiyoko said on Twitter. "I don’t need to drink wine to kiss girls; I’ve loved women my entire life."
But Ora insists that she wasn't trying to offend anyone with the song.
"I have had romantic relationships with women and men throughout my life and this is my personal journey," she said on Twitter, responding to all the controversy.
