This Robyn Conspiracy Theory Is Blowing the Internet's Mind
Underrated international superstar, Robyn, released her seventh studio album Body Talk in 2010 and forever changed the playlists of gay bars around the globe. The album birthed the music videos for "Dancing On My Own" and "Call Your Girlfriend," and despite not charting very well in the US, both became cultural phenomenons.
Well, one Twitter user recently realized that the two music videos could be more closely linked than just an album tracklist.
The tweet reads, "'Dancing on my Own' and 'Call Your Girlfriend' are about the same night, viewed from different perspectives." Wait, what?!

“@PubicDefender @primaconna So = Dancing on My Own would be about how the girl who got dumped felt, and Call Your Girlfriend about the girl the guy dumped her for?”— La Vulnición Papi (@La Vulnición Papi) 1498487968

But is it true? Through some very scientific research, we've reached an exciting conclusion. Let me paint the picture for you.
The night begins with "Dancing on my Own," a song about a girl, Robyn, who's ex cheated on her and has moved on. She finds out her former lover is at the club with his new girl and has to see it to believe it. Robyn decides to make a quick pop in.

She spots them, finds a corner, and watches the couple get cuddly from afar. Eventually, the jealousy and resentment overwhelm her and she can't do anything but dance through the tears. "So far away but still so near/The lights go on, the music dies," she croons over the techno beat. "But you don't see me standing here/I just came to say goodbye."

Robyn's probably feeling a bit sloshed at this point after all that rejection (I know I'd be) and her movements are full of sadness and rage. Those extra AF moves would hardly go unnoticed in a crowded bar. And they aren't. The new girlfriend sees her...
*cue "Call Your Girlfriend"*
Robyn² spots the ex, and thinks it's time for her man to take care of that messy drunk girl in the corner once and for all.

Robyn² is surprisingly gentle and incredibly detailed giving her man instructions on how to help his ex move on. "Tell her not to get obsessed, second-guessing everything you said and done/And then when she gets upset tell her how you never meant to hurt no one." Throughout CYG, Robyn² is desperately trying to get her man to let the old girl down gently, and dances as if when she stops she'll be reduced to tears. Clearly, Robyn² is emotionally invested in Robyn's feelings, and perhaps doesn't want their new relationship marred by the ugliness of the previous girl. Or maybe she just doesn't want her stalking them...

Regardless, Robyn² definitely understands the value of dancing on her own, as the entirety of the "Call Your Girlfriend" video is her frolicking alone in a warehouse.
Proven? I think yes.
