If you don’t know all the words to Nicki Minaj’s verse in the 2010 song "Monster," are you even gay? (Okay, obviously yes, but that verse is an iconic one to so many gay men.)
This week marked the anniversary of the release of Kanye West’s critically-acclaimed album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and in honor of the occasion, Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to write a post specifically about her memorable verse on "Monster" (which was the 6th song on the album) — and how it almost didn't happen.
Apparently, Kanye was worried that Nicki would upstage him, and didn’t want to include her verse. (There’s fragile masculinity and having a big ego, and then there’s Kanye, who takes it to a whole new level.) In an hour-long phone call, Nicki assuaged Kanye’s guilt, assuring Yeezy that he would still be the star of the show. She even recalled telling him, "YOU’RE KANYE WEST!!!!"
All we can say is THANK GOD her verse didn't get cut. Nicki, you truly are a mother f#cking monster!
Now let's take a trip down memory lane... (And let's be real, you still know ALL the words, even all these years later!)
