WATCH: This is Not Your Mother's Sinead O'Connor in 'Take Me To Church' Video - Or Is It?

This is not your mother’s Sinead O’Connor! Or is it? The Irish chanteuse who made as much of a name for herself in the '80s with her shaved-head, combat boots and rabble rousing as she did with her soaring, haunting vocals, is out with the new single “Take Me to Church," and it's pure, powerful Sinead in a way that you’d expect her to musically evolve.

The single is off of Sinead’s upcoming 10^th studio album I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss, which drops Aug. 12.

Sinead says of the song, according to a release, “The protagonist I’m writing about has had a profoundly distressing experience from which she is ultimately able to not only salvage herself but give birth to herself, coming to the conclusion, ‘I am the only one I should adore.’”
