Dani Shay, who you’ve seen on America’s Got Talent, The Glee Project and YouTube, has released a new acoustic song while a new album is in the works. Shay wrote “Chasing Madness” last July after hearing about the death of Glee’s Cory Monteith.
“I had just met him a few months prior [on the set of Glee], and could not believe that this tragically common story of ‘young-fame-leading-to-an earlth-death’ had repeated itself with someone so close to home,” Shay said in a press release, “As my heart broke for Lea Michelle and Cory’s friends and family, my mind also filled with questions about my own involvement in the so-called ‘entertainment industry’.”
In addition to writing about Monteith, Shay also mentions other famous fallen entertainers such as Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Biggie, Tupac, Whitney Houston, Heath Ledger and more. The lyrics get deep and personal as she sings about how the industry has proved to be a tough to road to walk on, “And I could read this list til’ the break of dawn, but it’s never gonna stop til’ we take it on; I’m afraid it’ll be me before I finish this song.”
