Even though Harry Styles recently admitted that he has “no idea what I’m doing” in his acting career, 2022 has been a landmark year for the popstar on the big screen. In October, fans will finally be able to watch Styles playing a closeted gay cop in My Policeman starring alongside Emma Corrin (The Crown) and David Dawson (Year of the Rabbit).
In the film, the character of Tom Burgess (Styles) gets married to Marion Taylor (Corrin) but falls in love with Patrick Hazlewood (Dawson). This story, which is set in Brighton in the 1950s, is based on a novel of the same name by Bethan Roberts.
We finally have the first trailer for My Policeman – and it is as intense and dramatic as fans might have anticipated. “I pity people who don’t know what it feels like to be this in love,” Styles’ character says in the trailer as he is torn between his marriage to a woman and secret relationship with a man.

Since making his official acting debut in the 2017 war film Dunkirk, Styles has been slowly building up his acting credits on the big screen. In recent years, he made a cameo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals and had a leading role in the Olivia Wilde-directed Don’t Worry Darling.
Styles has also kept up with his music career as a solo artist following the dissolution of OneDirection. The popstar has released three studio albums so far: 2017’s Harry Styles, 2019’s Fine Line, and 2022’s Harry’s House. These projects have included hit songs for Styles such as “Sign of the Times,” “Watermelon Sugar,” “Adore You,” and “As It Was,” to name a few.
Needless to say, fans are very excited to watch Styles in My Policeman (and all those “tender” love scenes) once it’s out everywhere!
My Policeman opens October 21 in theaters and November 4 on Amazon Prime Video.
