Jeremy Pope is coming back to the big screen.

A24’s upcoming dramaThe Inspection tells the story of a young gay Black man who decides to join the U.S. Marine Corps. The main character, Ellis, is played by Pope (Hollywood, Pose, One Night in Miami…).

The cast of The Inspection also features Gabrielle Union (Inez), Bokeem Woodbine (Laws), Raúl Castillo (Rosales), Nicholas Logan (Brooks), Aubrey Joseph (Boles), and McCaul Lombardi (Harvey), among others.

You can watch the full trailer for A24’s The Inspection below.

As seen in the trailer, the character of Ellis will face a lot of hardships when it comes to reaching the decision to join the Marines and going through that experience as a gay man. One scene shows Ellis being confronted in the showers by his fellow colleagues, but there’s also a hint that the character will find some romance in the midst of it all.

A24 is known for its hit movies, and this looks like yet another instant classic for the studio. Pope is also a fantastic actor as seen in his performances on Hollywood and One Night in Miami…, so one can expect a lot of depth from him in a movie like The Inspection.

2022 has been a great year for LGBTQ+ representation in film – and we have to stan!

The Inspection opens November 18 only in theaters.
