Ariana DeBose has a new movie on the way — and she’s taking the lead.

The West Side Story actress is set to headline an upcoming psychological thriller from Amazon Studios and Blumhouse Television called House of Spoils. The film follows a chef (DeBose) who opens her first restaurant on a remote estate only to discover the previous owner’s spirit is trying to sabotage her endeavor in malevolent ways.

House of Spoils will be written and directed by filmmaking dup Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, who previously made a splash with small town crime dramedy Blow the Man Down, also for Amazon.

“Since Blow the Man Down, we have been huge fans of Bridget and Danielle’s unique filmmaking voice and knew we needed to be a part of whatever they wanted to do next,” Head of Movies Julie Rapaport said on behalf of Amazon. “Pairing their thrilling script with Ariana’s incredible talent is a dream come true, and we could not be more excited to bring this story to the screen and to our customers around the world.”

DeBose has been on fire lately, winning an Academy Award for her supporting role in West Side Story earlier this year and joining the most recent season of Westworld. She also has several other movies in the works including the Henry Cavill action flick Argylle and an adaptation of Kraven the Hunter for Marvel, in which she will play voodoo priestess and villain Calypso.

“We’re excited to see Ariana’s fresh, bold and spirited energy that won her an Oscar in a role that is completely different,” Blumhouse Television president Chris McCumber said of House of Spoils.

If DeBose has a checklist of genres she’s looking to hit in her career, it sounds like she’s making great progress. And we can’t wait to watch every single one of them!
