Timothée Chalamet hive, toss out those old, rotting peaches and pick up an everlasting gobstopper instead because our boy is starring as a younger version of Willy Wonka in an upcoming origin story from Warner Bros! (Yes, you read all of that right. It is 2021, after all, and absolutely anything is possible.)
According to a report from Variety, the Oscar-nominated Call Me by Your Name star will be playing a younger version of the beloved, eccentric AF candymaker who was made famous after being played by the late, great Gene Wilder in 1971's Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. And the best part? It's gonna be a musical!
Everything is still under wraps, and not much is known about the mysterious prequel project, but Variety reports that it will tell the story of "the upbringing of the man who later created the famous house of confectionary treats." And yes, Timmy is going to show off some of those famous singing and dancing skills!
We'll be seeing Timothée back on the big screen later this year when he co-stars alongside Zendaya in Warner Bros.' highly-anticipated, star-studded sci-fi fantasy adventure flick Dune, but the thought of him putting on a purple jacket and singing to us about chocolate while working with Oompa Loompas tickles our fancy, and we absolutely can't wait to see it in real life (and not just in our imaginations)!
