If you're, like us, a romantic comedy buff and looking for a film that combines all of the elements needed for a classic, unashamedly feel-good rom-com, then Roadside Attractions' latest flick Finding You is here, for you!
"After an ill-fated audition at a prestigious New York music conservatory, violinist Finley Sinclair (Rose Reid) travels to an Irish coastal village to begin her semester studying abroad," the film's official description reads. "At the B&B run by her host family, she encounters gregarious and persistent heartthrob movie star Beckett Rush (Jedidiah Goodacre), who is there to film another installment of his medieval fantasy-adventure franchise. As romance sparks between the unlikely pair, Beckett ignites a journey of discovery for Finley that transforms her heart, her music, and her outlook on life. In turn, Finley emboldens Beckett to reach beyond his teen-idol image and pursue his true passion. But when forces surrounding Beckett’s stardom threaten to crush their dreams, Finley must decide what she is willing to risk for love."
PRIDE got the chance to chat with the film's two lead stars, Rose Reid and Jedidiah Goodacre, to chat about their love for romantic comedies, traveling to Ireland, working with Saoirse-Monica Jackson (the lead of Netflix's super hilarious, queer-inclusive Irish comedy series Derry Girls), and more!
"I love rom-coms and I also loved the book," Rose told PRIDE about her excitement for signing onto the film. "I actually read the book when I was a lot younger and it was such a beautiful novel. I fell in love with Beckett, he was one of my first crushes I ever had, so when I had the opportunity to jump on board with this film, I jumped at it because wouldn't want to be a part of their favorite childhood book growing up?"
"If anyone tells you they're not a rom-com fan they're probably acting tough and they're lying," Jedidiah said about his love for romantic comedies, a classic genre that has been having a major comeback in the film landscape as of late. "You just have to love rom-coms, you know what I mean? Everyone's got a part, nobody's the true Grinch. I love rom-coms. I love comedy. I'm a romantic guy, I think, in my own life or I wish to be. So I love that stuff."
Finding You is in theaters now!
