Trans Actress Zoey Luna Joins The Craft Reboot
The Craft reboot has just cast transgender actress Zoey Luna in one of the main roles!
If you somehow slept through the ‘90s (or weren’t born yet), The Craft was an iconic film about four teenagers who started messing around with witchcraft until, naturally, the power started going to their heads.
Word previously went out back in June that Blumhouse Productions was looking specifically to cast a trans actress for the film. “Transgender, to play Latina, a punk rocker, Lourdes is the second member of the teenaged Clique. Her super-Catholic mother threw her out for being trans and she now lives with her 80 year old abuela, who has taught Lourdes a variety of supernatural practices.”

Luna is fairly fresh on the acting scene, having gotten her start in documentaries about being trans, including one following her and several other girls as they planned for their respective quinceaneras. Since then, she’s had a guest spot on Pose.
Joining her in the new coven will be Cailee Spaeny (Bad Times at the El Royale), Gideon Adlon (Blockers), and Lovie Simone (Greenleaf).
As previously announced, this version of The Craft will be written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones.
There’s no word yet on when we may get to see this reimagined iconic witchy film, or if there will be more LGBTQ themes running throughout, but with a real trans actress playing a real trans character, it feels like this may be off to a good start.
