And no, it's still not Harry Styles.
After a lengthy search, a Prince Eric has finally been chosen for the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid!
Jonah Hauer-King, a British actor best known for playing Laurie in the 2017 Little Women mini-series, will take on the role of one of our all-time favorite Disney princes. Former One Directioner Harry Styles was originally rumored to be taking the plunge under the sea, but back in August, sources claimed he had declined after being offered the part.
So Hauer-King now joins Halle Bailey, who will be playing Ariel, as the only other confirmed member of the cast (though Melissa McCarthy was at one point rumored to be in talks to play Ursula). And Twitter has some thoughts.

But at the end of it, there were some folks who were just relieved ANYONE was finally chosen for the role.

And now that Eric is finally locked in, all that's left is for us to wait for the rest of the casting news...
Rachel Kiley is presumably a writer and definitely not a terminator. She can usually be found crying over queerbaiting in the Pitch Perfect franchise or on Twitter, if not both.
