As if the news that Kristen Stewart was going to star in a lesbian holiday rom com wasn’t enough, the thought that Mackenzie Davis might play her girlfriend could possibly break us.
Happiest Season will reportedly be about a woman who plans to propose to her girlfriend at her family’s holiday party, but discovers she hasn’t yet come out to her family.
The film was written by Clea DuVall and Mary Holland, and is set to be DuVall’s second feature film to direct, after her well-received debut with The Intervention in 2016.
Stewart came onto the project last year, but it’s unclear which of the roles she would be playing.
DuVall and Stewart both have a long history of devotion from the queer community, but Davis has garnered quite a following herself after appearing in Black Mirror’s famed “San Junipero” episode.
And the internet’s kind of freaking out about this possible power grouping for a rom com.
Hopefully we all make it to the holidays without spontaneously combusting, but honestly? No promises.
