If you've ever been to a movie theatre in your life, like, ever, chances are, you've seen Meryl Streep. And chances are you've seen her in an Oscar-nominated role. And chances are pretty good that you've seen her in an Oscar-winning role.
Meryl Streep has been nominated for a whopping 19 Oscars — and won three. (Only three?!)
With her latest release, Florence Foster Jenkins, Streep hopes to add one more nomination to her resume. And if the Hollywood stars align, hopefully a fourth win!
Here are five reasons the inimitable Meryl Streep deserves all the Oscars:
1. She disappears into her roles
A cold-hearted fashion editor. A suspicious nun. A riotous matriach. The roles Meryl Streep takes on are as varied as the movies she appears in. Quiet dramas, uproarious ensemble pieces — no matter the stage, no matter the role, Meryl melts away, leaving behind a character forever remembered.
2. She's not a sore loser

We have to imagine it sucks to lose an Oscar nomination, but Meryl is a gracious as she is gorgeous. She claps the loudest and smiles the brightest as her fellow actresses bask in their shining Oscar moments.
Sure, being an ally of the LGBT community doesn't necessarily correlate to deserving an Oscar, but heck, why not? We can always use fabulous, award-winning allies, and Meryl is the cream of the crop.
4. She breaks down gender and age barriers

In an industry where flimsy female roles are a dime a dozen — and typically go to the latest young bombshell — Meryl Streep bucks the trend. She not only plays the leading women in her movies, she typically is the lead. And her age has done nothing but afford her even more opportunities to impress audiences and critics alike.
5. She can do it all
She acts. She dances. She sings. She's involved in her community. She gives a hell of an interview. And she always looks fabulous doing it.
All the Oscars. Meryl Streep, you deserve them all.
