Ready for a new teen thriller starring some of our faves? Hari Nef, the transgender model and actress who starred in season two of Transparent, has just been announced as the lead of Assassination Nation, and we're already psyched to check it out. According to Variety, "Assassination Nation follows four teenage girls in a small suburb who become the focus of unwanted, world-wide media attention after their personal information is leaked by an anonymous hacker." Hari will be joined as one of the four leads by fellow actress/model Suki Waterhouse, actress Odessa Young, and singer Abra. The film is written and directed by Sam Levinson (Another Happy Day).
"Odessa, Hari, Abra and Suki are great, rising talents who all come from different backgrounds and collectively make up a cast that is young, diverse and powerful – all things we want this film to reflect," producers Anita Gou and Matthew Malek of Foxtail Entertainment have stated, "What attracted both of us to the project was it’s bold depiction of teenagers, not as vapid or distracted but rather engaged and determined to navigate the complexities of this new world. It tackles issues of shaming, mob mentality, vigilantism, and righteousness."
Producer David Goyer of Phantom Four called the film, "Essentially, ‘The Crucible’ for the Snapchat generation," so color us all sorts of intrigued. We loved Hari's work in Transparent and we love keeping up with her social media presence (you too can and should follow her on Twitter), so we're excited to see more of her onscreen.
